WAIHETIAN craft versatile pieces that harmonise form and function. Inspired by endless summer vacations, each design effortlessly transcends boundaries through regenerative processes rescuing waste from oceans to reimagined understated luxury wears.
Our Regeneration process starts with rescuing waste otherwise polluting the Earth’s oceans, like fishing nets & gear, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover all of the nylon possible.
Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means our regenerated nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon. This nylon is then processed into textile yarn, knit into nylon fabrics, and dyed with plant-based chemical-free dyes. Removing the risk of water pollution.
WAIHETIAN then uses this ECONYL® regenerated fabric & trimmings designing a new purpose for use, and enabling us to give you an environmentally responsible luxury garment.
For every 10,000 tonnes of ECONYL® raw material produced, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved, and 65,100 tonnes of CO2 emissions are avoided, reducing the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material made from oil. This nylon has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality.
The brand WAIHETIAN is our ethical contribution to a more sustainable fashion future. All our fabrics are supplied from Italian manufacturers. Our garments are made through the following certifications:
Our manufacturing operations have a demonstrable positive impact on workers and environment alike.
All our garments are made in Bali Indonesia through our eco-friendly clothing manufacture with government awarded working conditions. This covers the treatment of employees, waste disposal and sanitation, and includes living wages, optional overtime paid at three times base, full medical cover for employees & immediate family, a healthy cooked meal per day, western grade facilities, exclusively regenerated and organic fabrics, organic dyes and bio-degradable packaging - ensuring zero water pollution.
The Healthy Seas® Foundation is dedicated to marine conservation, education, and fostering a culture of prevention. They recover fishing nets with volunteer divers, which is regenerated together with other nylon waste into brand new ECONYL® yarn that we use for all our garments.
OUR 2024 - 2025 COMMITMENT
For our financial year ending March 2025, 2% of all Waihetian profit generated from sales will be donated back to Human Rights certified charity, Bali Street Mums Project.
Giving back to the community where all our garments are made. A New Zealand female-founded charity, Bali Street Mums Project are devoted to the welfare & education of women & children who have been displaced & trafficked in Bali.
Since the beginning, through our manufacturer, all our fabric offcuts are also donated. Made at the Safe House, residents use our offcuts to create new products to sell at local markets, empowering independence and self-employment.
We take a minimal approach to our marketing material and garment accessories. All our packaging is plastic-free. We use compostable shipping kraft paper mailers, paper packing tape, recycled card swing tags and tissue paper, and yarn string.
Have you heard of the girl with sun on her skin?
Who can make flowers grow with her light from within.
And she runs through the world leaving life in her wake,
With blossoms all lining the path that she takes.
She must be quite shy for she's never been seen,
But she's what paints the grass such a rich shade of green.
I've heard people say that there's dew in her veins,
That whenever she's hurting or lonely, it rains.
And if you listen on nights that are early in spring,
You might just hear her voice on the breeze as she sings.
